PSA Peugeot Citroën is the car manufacturer of two world-famous brands, Peugeot and Citroën. The Group PSA Peugeot Citroën is in 2014 the second largest European automotive manufacturer and the 9th largest in the world measured by unit production. Present in over 160 countries, the PSA Group sells more than a fourth of its production outside Western Europe.
The main unit of the Research Division involved in ScalABLE is the Advanced Manufacturing department of PSA, which studies and integrates innovations towards a more competitive production system. PSA has also a significant expertise in the field of standardization of robotic systems and as such, participates in several efforts and initiatives aiming to provide guidelines for the integration of complex cognitive and robotic systems.
1 COLUMN LAYOUT
Together with Simoldes Plásticos, and as end-user of ScalABLE, PSA is in charge of providing constant guidelines
and specifications to reflect industrial needs in terms of flexible manufacturing systems. Throughout the consecutive test sprints, PSA will provide access to an existing engine assembly line in order to benchmark the project developments and guarantee the efficient integration of the proposed concepts in a realistic production environment for a better technology transfer. Additionally, due to the experience of the involved R&D robotic team of PSA, critical issues regarding reusability, reliability, robustness, maintainability, safety and usability will be carefully addressed.
